Season finale alert! When to expect goodbye episodes from 'Survivor,' 'Chuck,' and 'Saturday Night Live'

Where did the time ago? It seems like just yesterday that we were anxiously awaiting the start of Lone Star; now we can barely remember that two-timing cad. That’s because it’s season finale time – that heartbreaking period when we bid adieu to nine months of scripted heaven to make way for three months of unscripted hell on the broadcast networks. (Don’t worry, Big Brother: We still adore thee).

Fire up your DVR playlists, kids … here are all the broadcast net finales. READ FULL STORY

'Supernatural' EP Ben Edlund on tonight's episode: 'We go to heaven, we go to hell, and we go around the block'

Only a show like Supernatural can take you to heaven and hell in the same episode. And if there’s one person up for the particular challenge of such strange travels, it’s long-time fan-favorite writer and executive producer Ben Edlund, who tonight makes his directorial debut in a Castiel-centric episode that will address the story behind last week’s monstrously awesome twist that revealed the angel was in cahoots with King of Hell Crowley.

“For a while now we’ve know that Cas is up to something, and now, we know specifically his affiliations are very distasteful. [This is the episode] where he kind of tells his story. That’s the meat of it and where it takes us,” he says. READ FULL STORY

'Criminal Minds,' 'Supernatural,' 'Castle,' 'NCIS: LA': Find out what's next in the Spoiler Room

Spoiler-Room

Lords and ladies of the Royal Spoiler court, your TV scooper has taken a break from her shameless obsession with the Royal Wedding to bring you a spot of TV scoop fit for Royals and commoners alike.

Quick programming note to all the lovely readers who contacted me thinking I was dead/injured/buried alive on Tuesday when you were hoping for a Spoiler Room: We are on summer schedule, meaning you’ll get the column once a week until fall season. But perhaps I’ll pop in on some Tuesdays with special treats (“perhaps” = “of course!”). And as always, keep a close eye on ITV for daily scoopage.

On to the fun! As always, you great people can send your questions to spoilerroom@ew.com and @EWSandraG on Twitter. See you next week!

‘CRIMINAL MINDS’ FINALE WILL TACKLE BAU’s UNCERTAIN FUTURE

With some key cast members of Criminal Minds still without contracts for next season (i.e., Shemar Moore and the beloved Thomas Gibson), exec producer Erica Messer has penned a cliffhanger for the May 18 finale that will nod to the team’s shaky future — but not with guns and explosions. It will tackle the financial realities of crime fighting — and possible cutbacks in BAU. “It’s a more authentic version of ‘Our team is in jeopardy,’ ” she says. “This instead is, ‘There could be big trouble here, hopefully not,’ but we need to at least acknowledge that it’s on the horizon.” READ FULL STORY

The CW renews 'Supernatural,' 'Vampire Diaries,' 'Gossip Girl' and two more!

The CW just announced early renewals of five shows for next season. Ready?

Gossip Girl, Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries and 90210 are all coming back, along with a first-ever all-star edition of America’s Next Top Model.

All will return next fall. None are huge surprises — Vampire Diaries is the network’s biggest hit, Gossip and 90210 are solid-ish and Friday’s Supernatural has helped keep the network strong on TV’s toughest night. Doing an all-star edition of veteran Top Model also makes sense as a way to potentially boost its numbers after 16 cycles. As for the shows that were not renewed… READ FULL STORY

'Smallville,' 'Fringe' ratings slip; 'FNL' rises

The CW’s Smallville and Fox’s Fringe dipped in the ratings Friday night, even as NBC’s Friday Night Lights rose.

Perhaps the Easter holiday weekend was kryptonite to the Man of Steel, which fell 10 percent in the demo for an episode titled “Booster.” Supernatural remained steady with the week before and ABC’s Shark Tank slipped 7 percent from last week’s season high.

CBS won the night with Girl’s Night Out: Superstar Women of Country special (8.4 million viewers, 1.6 preliminary adults 18-49 rating). If it seems like there’s a ton of country music specials and award shows, you’re right — it’s because they always manage to pull a decent rating. READ FULL STORY

‘SMALLVILLE': BOOSTER GOLD’S BIG ARRIVAL … AND BIG EGO

Smallville‘s better-than-ever farewell season continues Friday with the appearance of Booster Gold and the Blue Beetle/Jaime Reyes in an episode that will have both fans of the mythology and beloved Clois squealing in delight. As teased in previews, the episode indeed features an iconic phonebooth transformation (but not into the full tights-and-cape). The moment is all you’d hope it to be, but what got this nerd really excited? The steps that were taken toward creating a critical part of mythology: our hero’s name. Also great: Lois’ interactions with Jaime, Clark’s almost child-like reaction to Booster douche (who is actually as frustrating as he his hilarious), and the arrival of clumsy Kent. Take it all in, Smallville fans, because we’re in the homestretch. Luckily, the show’s been making it more than worth the 10-year investment. READ FULL STORY

'Supernatural': How John Winchester almost returned in tonight's episode

Your eyes don’t deceive, Supernatural fans. Once upon a time, in a far away land known as the Supernatural writer’s room, a man known as John Winchester (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) was briefly considered for a return in tonight’s episode, which finds Sam and Dean in an alternate reality after Balthazar unsinks the Titanic.

In a chat with EW, Supernatural exec producer Robert Singer (yes, uncle Bobby’s namesake!) tossed out this nugget of trivia along with much more in preparation for the finale episodes of the season.  READ FULL STORY

'Supernatural': Sam and Dean travel to the Old West in 'Frontierland' -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

Don’t ever say I don’t give you anything nice. And readers, this sneak peek at next week’s episode of Supernatural is VERY nice.

In the episode, titled “Frontierland,” Sam and Dean get sent back in time to the Old West by Castiel to find the Colt and end up having an encounter with Samuel Colt himself. Personally, I’ve never argued with good-looking men in cowboy gear, and I’m certainly not going to start complaining now. READ FULL STORY
