Listen: Robin Williams on returning to TV for 'The Crazy Ones'

Last September, EW‘s Lynette Rice sat down with Robin Williams to discuss his big return to network television. The series, which premiered 31 years after Mork & Mindy made the comedian a household name, was The Crazy Ones, a single-camera comedy about a brilliant, unfiltered ad exec (Williams, naturally) who runs an agency with his more uptight daughter (Sarah Michelle Gellar). The interview is poignant in light of both the fact that Williams’ televised comeback was short-lived—CBS declined to pick up The Crazy Ones for a second season, and its last episode aired April 17, 2014—and, more importantly, the actor’s sudden death Monday.

Listen to the interview—in which Williams describes Mork as “an arranged marriage” and trades quips with Gellar—below: READ FULL STORY

'Mork and Mindy' star Pam Dawber to reunite with Robin Williams on 'The Crazy Ones'

It’s been 32 years since sitcom Mork and Mindy ended and as a result, Pam Dawber and Robin Williams stopped gracing our television screens together. But now, the two are pairing up for a reunion on CBS comedy The Crazy Ones later this season.

“It will be a joy to work with her again,” Williams said in a statement. “It’s a dream come true.” In the episode, Williams’ Simon Roberts will go on a date with an eccentric author, played by Dawber. “I’m so excited to be able to see and work with Robin again,” Dawber said.

CBS orders more 'Crazy Ones,' 'The Millers' and 'Mom'

Robin Williams just earned a full-season order: CBS announced that it has picked up a full season of its three new freshman comedies, The Crazy Ones, The Millers and Mom.

CBS points out that The Crazy Ones, starring Williams, is this season’s No. 1 new comedy in viewers (13.7 million), adults 18-49 (3.6 rating/10 share) and adults 25-54 (4.8/12). It also wins its Thursday time period in viewers.

The Millers ranks as the number two comedy in viewers (12.4 million), adults 18-49 (3.2/09) and adults 25-54 (4.3/11). Last night, it retained 97 percent of its premiere rating in adults 18-49, 98 percent in adults 25-54 and 93 percent of its premiere audience. Mom is the third most watched new comedy, averaging 7.98 million viewers,  and earning a 2.6/06 in adults 18-49 and a 3.2/07 in adults 25-54.

“We’re proud of CBS’ leadership position in comedy and excited to build on it with the back nine pick-ups of these three new comedies,” said CBS President Nina Tassler in a statement. “These series are creatively distinct, continue to improve each week and are led by strong showrunners, writing and production staffs, and feature amazingly talented casts.”

'The Crazy Ones' nabs Brad Garrett for key role -- EXCLUSIVE

This casting is — pun intended — crazy good.

EW has learned exclusively that Emmy Award winner Brad Garrett is slated to appear alongside Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar in at least two episodes of their forthcoming CBS sitcom The Crazy Ones. On the show, Williams and Gellar play a father-daughter duo who work at a Chicago advertising agency, called Lewis, Roberts & Roberts. Garrett’s character will be the “Lewis” part of that equation.

'The Crazy Ones' books Josh Groban for guest spot -- EXCLUSIVE (Updated)

Updated: The Crazy Ones has booked its latest guest star with golden pipes.

EW has learned exclusively that mega singer Josh Groban will appear the sixth episode of the CBS comedy’s freshman season. But unlike Kelly Clarkson, who appears in the pilot as herself, Groban plays a guy named Richie who is a friend from Sydney’s (Sarah Michelle Gellar’s) past, who comes back into her life to repay a kindness. The problem? Sydney completely misperceives his intentions, and Simon (Robin Williams) intercedes to right the ship.”In doing so, he gets an idea from Richie that lands a big account for the firm,” according to casting scoop.

This is far from Groban’s first time on the TV block. He’s previously guest-starred on Glee, The Office, and CSI: NY.

The Crazy Ones, which stars Gellar and Williams as a father-daughter ad exec team, premieres Sept. 26 at 9 p.m. ET. Watch a sneak peek of the show below.

'The Crazy Ones' gets a catchy promo -- EXCLUSIVE

The Crazy Ones doesn’t need any help drumming up interest (the return of Robin Williams to TV + Sarah Michelle Gellar = instant buzz) but the catchy promo below certainly can’t hurt.

The comedy’s new TV spot, which you’re seeing first here on EW, highlights much of what critics have loved about the show in early reviews: James Wolk (Mad Men) being adorable, Williams’ hold-nothing-back delivery, and Kelly Clarkson.

Take a look and watch the show for yourself when it premieres Sept. 26 on CBS:
