TV Land picks up additional episodes of 'The Exes' ahead of premiere

TV Land just announced that they will be renewing The Exes for 12 additional episodes ahead of its season premiere. The comedy about three divorced men who live together as roommates is currently in the midst of production for season 4.

“Everything we’ve seen from the upcoming season of The Exes is telling us it’s going to be the best one yet,” TV Land president Larry W. Jones said in a statement. “Last week, we crossed the 50th episode threshold, and we thought – these episodes are so good, let’s keep them going!”

The upcoming season sees the return of Stuart’s (David Alan Basche) sister, Nicki, played by recurring guest star Leah Remini. Phil (Donald Faison) and Eden (Kelly Stable) are still broken up and pursuing their own endeavors – for Phil, it means lapping after the ladies, and for Eden, it means getting an education. Holly (Kristen Johnston) decides to plan her wedding in reverse, with the last step being finding a man to marry.

The Exes is set to premiere Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 10:30 pm ET/PT.

Tyler Posey is shirtless on 'The Exes' -- PHOTO

Not ready for a break from seeing Tyler Posey on the small screen? You’re in luck. Right off Teen Wolf‘s season 3A finale last night on MTV, Posey is primed to guest star on Wednesday’s episode of The Exes on TV Land.

The sitcom, now in its second season, stars Donald Faison (Scrubs), Wayne Knight (Seinfeld), and David Alan Basche (The Starter Wife) as a group of divorced men who room together in an apartment owned by their divorce lawyer, played by Emmy winner Kristen Johnston (3rd Rock From the Sun).

In the new episode, “The Hand That Robs the Cradle,” Posey plays a law student who courts an older woman, Holly (Johnston). But Holly’s assistant and friend, Eden (Kelly Stables), has doubts about whether or not the relationship is legitimate.

'The Exes': Judith Light returns as Kristen Johnston's mother -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

Can there ever be too much Judith Light on television? In a word: no. Which is why it’s good that the Who’s the Boss? legend is returning to her guesting gig on TV Land’s sitcom The Exes, where she plays the over-bearing mother to Kristen Johnston’s divorce lawyer character Holly Brooks. EW has an exclusive clip of Light’s reappearance on The Exes in tomorrow night’s new episode, titled “Sister Act,” which also stars Amanda Detmer as Light’s other, more beloved, perfect daughter Jill.

Just like last time, the appearance of Light’s motherly character ruffles Holly’s feathers, largely because she’s so often pushed to the side in favor of her perfect — and married — sister. The full episode apparently finds Holly inventing an alternative lifestyle for herself that spirals out of control (to impress Mommy Dearest maybe?), but until it airs Wednesday evening at 10:30 p.m., whet your appetite with a preview clip of Light’s return — and the fireworks it causes — here:

FIRST LOOK: 'Glee' Emmy nominee Dot-Marie Jones visits 'The Exes' -- EXCLUSIVE

Though Dot-Marie Jones found her calling card as Coach Shannon Beiste on Glee, she has been in the biz for more than two decades. Jones, a 15-time world arm wrestling champion, has found a steady stream of work by embracing her imposing stature. “You can’t hide 6’3″,” she says. “I’m not going to act like I’m a 5’2″ woman that’s 105 pounds. I couldn’t be under 200 pounds if I were dead and hollow.” But, as seen in the above picture, she may have found her match in Kristen Johnston, the six-foot-tall star of The Exes. The two ladies will go toe-to-toe (and cheek-to-cheek) in the Aug. 22 episode of the TV Land sitcom. Below, get a closer of look of Jones and Johnston’s face-off, then see what the two-time Emmy nominee has to say about her return to McKinley High and the red carpet.

'The Exes' nods to '3rd Rock': Kristen Johnston and Wayne Knight go on a date -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

One of TV Land’s favorite things to do on its original sitcoms is to reunite old castmembers from old shows. You know, those winky scenes — like when Betty White reunited with Mary Tyler Moore on Hot in Cleveland last year — that nod back to the original series the actors were originally on together. Well, there’s more of that coming on tomorrow night’s episode of TV Land’s The Exes, which finds former 3rd Rock from the Sun actors Kristen Johnston and Wayne Knight playing together in a dating-focused half hour.

Of course, the pair have co-starred together on The Exes since it launched last November, but this particular episode — which you can catch an exclusive sneak peek of below — puts them together like the old 3rd Rock days when their characters on that show, Sally and Don, were constantly in the will-they-or-won’t-they zone.

On The Exes, Johnston plays Holly Brooks, a divorce attorney who lives across the hall from three of her former clients — one of whom is Knight’s character Haskell Lutz, a lazy divorcee who makes cash selling stuff online. This won’t ruin tomorrow night’s episode for you, but it’s fair to say that the pair aren’t really dating because, well, lawyers shouldn’t date their clients — especially divorce lawyers. But Holly and Haskell do go on a fun, faux, practice date (Haskell needs the practice, trust!) and have a number of funny scenes together throughout the episode.

EW rounded the pair up to chat about what it was like to come back together, a la 3rd Rock, and got them talking about various other topics. Read what they had to say and watch the scene they preview below.

'The Exes' star Kristen Johnston previews season 2, talks about her return to sitcom life

TV Land’s sitcom The Exes returns for its second season of 12 episodes tonight at 10:30 p.m., so in anticipation of that, EW hopped on the phone with star Kristen Johnston to discuss what fans can expect on the coming episodes of the show. First, let’s start with the photo here, which shows a moment in next week’s episode — the second of the season — when Johnston’s character Holly learns that her client Stuart (David Alan Basche) is extremely well endowed — hence that big baguette.

“I find out he’s well endowed, and I try to insist to myself and everyone else that that matters not even a little bit,” Johnston explains, with a laugh. “Of course, he keeps trying to teach me how to cook and everything he pulls out happens to be a baguette or a giant cucumber, and I have to wash the cucumber. If there was ever a Lucille Ball episode — of me robbing from her — this is it.” READ FULL STORY
