Bob Barker celebrates 90th birthday on 'Price Is Right'

Bob Barker’s 90th birthday present is urging one more contestant to “come on down” from the audience on The Price Is Right.

The veteran game-show host, at the helm of The Price Is Right from 1972 to 2007, was invited back by current host Drew Carey on Thursday to celebrate the milestone birthday.

He moved a little more slowly, and his microphone was a little thicker, but Barker fell right back into the groove. The audience gave him a standing ovation, and he joined with Carey in encouraging viewers to spay or neuter their pets — Barker’s longtime cause.

To the reception, Barker said, “You folks appreciate the fact that it has taken me a long time to become 90.”

Bob Barker to mark his 90th birthday on 'Price Is Right'

CBS says The Price Is Right is planning a milestone birthday celebration for former host Bob Barker.

Barker will celebrate his 90th birthday with an appearance on the game show in December, the network said Tuesday. He retired as host in 2007 after 35 years with The Price Is Right.

The show will also pay tribute to Barker’s longtime animal activism by featuring pet adoptions during the week of Dec. 9-13.

Barker will be on The Price Is Right on his birthday, Dec. 12, and will present a special showcase to mark the occasion, CBS said.

The Price Is Right, with host Drew Carey, airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on CBS.

'The Price is Right' picks its first male model

The Price is Right has named its very first male model, striking a blow for Plinko-related gender-equality everywhere. Twenty-four-year-old Rob Wilson—the frontrunner in EW’s own poll—demonstrated the blank smile and awkward stance necessary to show off wood-paneled hot tubs and karaoke machines, beating out hundreds of other similarly qualified hopefuls. Wilson’s stint starts Oct. 15 and will last for at least one week, marking a break in the CBS game show’s 40-year history of exclusively female models.

'Price is Right' special 'ignores' Bob Barker: 'They haven't even offered me a DVD'

Bob Barker hosted The Price Is Right for 35 years, but he wasn’t invited to participate in the game show’s 40th anniversary special. The 88-year-old TV personality says the show’s producers “chose to ignore me, which is fine.”

The 40th anniversary special episode of TV’s longest-running game show aired Tuesday morning and featured returning contestants from the past four decades. Barker is shown in several clips but was not invited to appear on the program or attend the taping. “They haven’t even offered me a DVD,” Barker said in an interview Tuesday.

Show producers had no comment.

Barker, a longtime animal activist who advised his viewers each day to “Help control the pet population: Have your pets spayed or neutered,” thinks he was omitted from the anniversary show “because I have been critical of them for giving away prizes that I consider inappropriate.” READ FULL STORY

'The Price is Right' launches its first-ever search for a male model

Have you always wanted to show off flashy cars and cozy new living room sets on national television? The Price is Right may be famous for Bob Barker (and now Drew Carey)’s lovely ladies, but now The Price is Right is holding a contest to find its first male model.

In the game show’s nearly 40-year history, the prizes have almost always been displayed by female models, but now one guy will get to try out the gig for a week on the CBS show, which is currently hosted by Drew Carey. READ FULL STORY
