'The Walking Dead': David Morrissey (a.k.a. the Governor) drops intel on the town of Woodbury -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

While much has been made of the West Georgia Correctional Facility being the big new locale for season 3 of The Walking Dead, plenty of action will also be taking place just a few miles away in the town of Woodbury, GA. And who better to provide intel on said town than the man who runs it? We sat down with the actor who plays the Governor, David Morrissey, to get his take on a place that may not be as wonderful as it seems on the surface.

“It’s an oasis in this madness,” says Morrissey. “Although it looks like a fortress, there’s aspects of it that look very idyllic, which are idyllic in this world. That comes at a cost.” What that cost is remains to be seen, but we already know that Andrea and Michonne will end up at the town, and that a confrontation will eventually take place between the prison and Woodbury contingents. So not everything is hunky-dory. To hear more from Morrissey on what to expect from Woodbury, check out the video below. And for more Walking Dead scoop, follow me on Twitter @DaltonRoss. Did AMC leak 'Walking Dead' season 4 renewal?

Did AMC renew The Walking Dead? The network’s website posted a contest for viewers to win a trip to the set of the zombie hit’s fourth season — even though no such season has been announced and the third has yet to premiere. The contest is causing some to think the show’s officially renewed.

If the show was renewed, it wouldn’t be the first time AMC was scooped by its website. Last year an online ad for the second season DVD outraged fans by revealing a key character’s death before the episode had aired. But an AMC spokesperson confirms: The Walking Dead is not renewed.

Though, of course, it eventually will be. The drama’s second season finale delivered a record-setting 9 million viewers. AMC’s Dead may be walking, but it ain’t going anywhere. The show returns Oct. 14, and we expect an official renewal will follow sometime shortly thereafter. Now go donate some blood or something… READ FULL STORY »

'The Walking Dead': Danai Gurira talks about Michonne's kick-ass katana sword -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

The Food Network won’t be the only place to turn for slicing and dicing this fall as The Walking Dead welcomes the sword-wielding Michonne when season 3 kicks off on AMC on Oct. 14. A fan favorite from the comic book (and glimpsed briefly in the season 2 finale) Michonne is known for dragging along two armless, jawless zombie “Pets” on chains and carrying around a bitchin’ katana sword she uses to remove zombies from their heads.

We caught up with the woman who plays Michonne, Danai Gurira, at our EW photo shoot to ask what it’s like to get to swing that sucker around, and how the sword helps define her character. “It became of an extension for her of many things,” says Gurira. “Of a rebirth into a new world. Not the world than anyone would ever want, but one that she’s damn sure gonna make sure she survives in — and thrives in.”

Huge 'Walking Dead' shocker! IronE Singleton promises 'This season you will get more T-Dog' -- VIDEO

Oh, T-Dog. You looked like a goner when your arm got infected at the start of The Walking Dead‘s second season. But then it healed and we kind of forgot about you all over again. But there will be no forgetting T-Dog in season 3! At least that is according to the man who plays him, IronE Singleton. “This season you will get more T-Dog,” he promises in a new video featuring interviews with the entire cast. “Trust me on that!” We trust you, Dog! We trust you! What else can we expect in season 3? “Lots of laughs, plenty of jokes,” says Andrew Lincoln. (Pretty sure he’s kidding.) “We basically have plunged into more madness, more chaos, more grief,” says Laurie Holden. (That sounds more like it!) To see the entire cast — minus poor Chandler Riggs, who must have had homework or something — as well as plenty of juicy season 3 footage, click on the video below. While the other survivors from Hershel’s farm massacre will make a prison their home in season 3 of The Walking Dead, Andrea — who was separated from the group and saved by a mysterious hooded figure named Michonne in the finale — will end up somewhere else entirely: the town of Woodbury, Ga. There, Andrea and Michonne will be introduced to a man with the first name of Philip who is better known by another moniker: the Governor. And we have a few brand new photos of all three characters in this new environment below, as well was intel from the actors that play them on what to expect in season 3. READ FULL STORY »

'The Walking Dead': Norman Reedus says 'I can sleep with everyone. I can kill everyone.' -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

Norman Reedus’ Walking Dead character of Daryl Dixon is a bit different from the rest, and not just because he wields a kick-ass crossbow and can empty the remains of a zombie’s stomach. Unlike Rick, Lori, Andrea, Glenn and the others, the character of Daryl was not imported from the comic book on which the TV show is based. And the man who plays Daryl, Norman Reedus, says he likes the fact that his character is completely unique to the television version. “Not being a character from the comic book is kind of cool for me because I can do what I want to a certain extent, “ says Reedus. “I can sleep with everyone. I can kill everyone. I don’t know when I’ll die.” READ FULL STORY »

'The Walking Dead': Greg Nicotero shows off zombies from the show's Halloween Horror Nights haunted maze -- EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS

You don’t have to wait until season 3 premieres on AMC on Oct. 14 to get the bejesus scared out of you by The Walking Dead. That’s because the zombie drama will be part of the annual Halloween Horror Nights event taking place at Universal Studios theme parks in Orlando and Hollywood starting on Sept. 21. Those who dare to enter will need to survive what a Universal press release describes as “eerily authentic, elaborately designed movie-quality sets that include some of the most iconic locations and scenes from the show. Mobs of undead walkers bring to ‘life’ the vicious, hungry zombies from the show.”

And we’ve got your first look at some of those zombies right here and right now with three exclusive photos. “We want people to experience the same terror of the walker-filled reality our characters faced in seasons 1 and 2, and will continue to face in our third season,” says the show’s co-executive producer and monster makeup guru Greg Nicotero in the release. The Walking Dead mazes will open, along with all of Halloween Horror Nights, in both Universal parks on select dates Sept. 21 through Oct. 31. Now scroll down to check out Nicotero with some of the walkers in a recreation of the show’s famous post-apocalypse hospital set. Check out the special New York Comic-Con cover of the 'Walking Dead' magazine -- EXCLUSIVE

walking-dead-magazine.jpg

Who would have dreamed the zombie apocalypse would involve so much reading? Well, Walking Dead TV show exec producer Robert Kirkman, for one. The undead drama is, of course, based on Kirkman’s longrunning comic — which recently celebrated its 100th issue — while the franchise has also spawned a series of novel prequels, the second of which, The Road To Woodbury, will be published Oct. 16, two days after the show’s third season premieres on AMC.

But don’t take off those reading glasses yet! This October will also see the debut of the The Walking Dead, The Official Magazine, a quarterly title featuring interviews with the cast, crew, and producers and other assorted behind-the-scenes malarkey.

The magazine hits stores Oct. 23, but those attending New York Comic-Con on Oct. 11 will be able to buy a special copy of the publication with a cover by Walking Dead artist Charlie Adlard, featuring the much loved zombie-decapitating character Michonne. The mag will be available for purchase at the Titan Entertainment booth (#832), but you can exclusively check out Adlard’s cover above and, in larger format, below. READ FULL STORY »

'The Walking Dead': The cast and producers respond to criticism of season 2

By the time season 2 of The Walking Dead wrapped up — after the deaths of Dale and Shane, and the appearance of comic book favorite Michonne and the prison — fans were whipped into a frenzy and acting like zombies themselves with the insatiable hunger for more, more, MORE! But during the season’s first batch of episodes in the fall of 2011, it was a bit of a different story, with some viewers grumbling about the slow pacing as the survivors hung around on the farm and searched for lost Sophia. (The payoff, of course, was that a zombified Sophia would eventually be found locked in the barn.) With season 3 of the show (premiering Oct. 14) just around the corner, I asked the cast and producers how they felt about the criticism from a year ago of there being too much chatter and not enough splatter. Here’s what they told me.

NORMAN REEDUS (Daryl Dixon)
“People are going say whatever they’re going to say anyway. If we killed a zillion zombies last season everyone would say, ‘There’s no storyline, they don’t talk enough.’ So f— ‘em! I’ve been trying to get into Game of Thrones. I can’t tell if it’s the future or the past, but those motherf—ers talk the whole time. Do I gotta bitch about it, or am I going to watch it and enjoy? I’m going to watch it and enjoy. People are going say whatever they say. You have to talk to tell a story. It’s not a cartoon. The pace this season is definitely amped up. We’re just talking faster.” READ FULL STORY »

'The Walking Dead': Andrew Lincoln on not making eye contact with costar Sarah Wayne Callies in season 3 -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

While most of the attention from the season 2 Walking Dead finale centered on the fact that zombies infiltrated the farm and started biting any of Hershel’s relatives they could get their disgusting jaws on, another quieter event took place that will also set off serious ramifications when the AMC drama picks back up in season 3 on Oct. 14. After Rick told Lori about how he killed her former lover and his best friend Shane, she recoiled in seeming disgust.

And now it appears that time — the show picks up several months later — has not healed all wounds. “I’m not saying that it’s irrevocable, their relationship, but it’s pretty close to that,” Andrew Lincoln told us while taking a break from shooting one of four Entertainment Weekly Walking Dead covers. “Every time they see one another, they’re reminded of the shame.” Lincoln goes on to explain that the disgust ran so deep that he couldn’t even look at Sarah Wayne Callies. “We made a choice as actors, certainly for the first few episodes, not to make eye contact. It was an interesting choice because every time that we looked at each other, it burned.” READ FULL STORY »

The Governor speaks! David Morrissey on how his 'Walking Dead' character differs from the comic book version -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

A lot of people were thrown when the suave David Morrissey was cast to play one of the most evil and barbaric characters in comic book culture in the Governor. (Much like the way people were thrown when “that British guy from Love Actually” was cast to play steely sheriff’s deputy Rick Grimes). But after going and seeing Morrissey in character on set, it was clear to me that when season 3 of The Walking Dead picks up on AMC Oct. 14,  the Governor we meet will be a different beast from the one we were introduced to in the comic book — at least at first. Morrissey’s Governor is a much more political animal with a messiah complex — one whose evil lurks behind a shiny exterior.

Morrissey took a few minutes out from fondling a big knife for one of our four new Walking Dead Entertainment Weekly covers to offer some insight as to how the TV Governor differs from the comic version. “We probably meet the Governor earlier in his journey,” says Morrissey “I think he has more complexity than in the comic book.” So instead of coming across a complete lunatic, as in the comic, expect to see the seeds of lunacy being planted right before our eyes: “The things that make him the way he is happen to him on screen. We see them happening.” READ FULL STORY »
