'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.': Chloe Bennet previews 'Thor' crossover, Ward's 'internal rage'

After last week’s excursion to The Hub, in which Skye learned all about S.H.I.E.L.D.’s many clearance rules, it’s finally time for the episode comic-lovers have been waiting for: The Thor crossover!

This week’s episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. places our favorite agents in the direct aftermath of Thor: The Dark World. What ensues is a mix of Asgardian mind tricks, a discovery or two, and an internal battle for the straight-faced Agent Ward. We caught up with Chloe Bennet to talk about Asgardian relics, Skye’s past, and all things Skyward:

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: For someone who hasn’t seen Thor 2, what’s going on in this episode?
CHLOE BENNET: Well, the episode that airs on Tuesday is the aftermath of Thor 2, so our team goes to [an] undisclosed location to try and clean up the mess that these Asgardian gods came down and made. And then when we’re cleaning up this mess, we happen to find certain Asgardian relics and that leads us to another story line. Basically, there’s this relic, and if you touch it, it makes you have this unbelievable amount of rage and that causes a lot of drama and a very good episode.

It’s official: Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD is doing a crossover episode with the upcoming film Thor: The Dark World.

After Dark World is released in theaters Nov. 8, the Nov. 19 episode of S.H.I.E.L.D., “The Well,” will continue where the film left off. Here’s the official description: “In the aftermath of the events chronicled in the feature film Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World, Coulson and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. pick up the pieces–one of which threatens to destroy a member of the team.”

The episode is directed by sci-fi TV luminary Jonathan Frakes (Star Trek: The Next Generation), who previously directed an episode of S.H.I.E.L.D. co-creator Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse.

There’s a slew of announced guest stars in the episode, but none from Thor 2 (so no Chris Hemsworth stopping by to wave his hammer at Coulson): “Peter MacNicol as Professor Elliot Randolph, Michael Graziadei as Jakob Nystrom, Erin Way as Petra Larsen, Toby Wilson as Neils, Alex Neustaedter as Maynard and Sylvia Brindis as Elena.”
