Hugh Jackman just can’t stop the bounce.

In a new promo for the Tony Awards, hosted by Hugh Jackman, the X-Men star explains he’s got a secret: He can’t stop jumping up and down — and he proves it by bouncing while brushing his teeth, signing autographs, and even during an interview with ESPN.

The big question of Why? remains unanswered — the clip tells you to check out the Tony Awards broadcast to find out the story. Here’s hoping it’s all part of a lead-up to round 2 of this.

Best of 2013 (Behind the Scenes): Neil Patrick Harris and producers talk Tonys opening number

The musical number is a tried-and-true awards show opener. But last June, it got taken to new heights when viewers were treated to one of the most elaborate, thrilling, and catchy performances of all when Neil Patrick Harris hosted the Tony Awards for the fourth time.

The “Bigger” number celebrated the best of Broadway and had audiences both at home and in the theater on their feet by the end of the seven-and-a-half-minute performance. (Just check out Debra Messing’s reaction shot to sum up most people’s feelings about the song). With all the songs, magic tricks and cameos the song would have been impressive regardless, but the fact that the number went live after only getting to run it fully through a few times makes it worthy of a standing ovation.

“That’s what makes the Tonys so invigorating,” Harris tells EW. “With almost no rehearsal you’re counting on people to execute well. But these are people who execute well every single night. So they’re used to that kind of pressure and they thrive on it.”

In separate conversations, Harris, as well as Tonys telecast executive producer Ricky Kirshner and Tonys telecast director/executive producer Glenn Weiss, walked EW through what happens when you sketch out a number via Facetime, put each part together separately, and only get a few precious moments to run it all together before curtain.

No big opening number at this year's Emmys -- and more hints from Neil Patrick Harris

Second-time Emmys host Neil Patrick Harris isn’t just an actor, singer, dancer, director, writer, child stardom survivor, evil genius, amateur puppeteer, and magic enthusiast — he’s also a seasoned awards show producer with three Tony telecasts and the 2009 Emmys already under his belt.

Accordingly, Harris has been actively involved with every aspect of TV’s upcoming big night. “I become very, very particular [about] even an errant comma or a misplaced inflection,” Harris explained to EW during a recent chat. “Not only the things that I say, but the presenters’ dialogue as well.” At least the three-time Emmy winner won’t have to worry about contingency plans this time around; though Harris is up for an award this year (for Special Class Programs), it’s not a prize that will be handed out on air. (In 2009, the host lost Supporting Actor in a Comedy
Series to Jon Cryer, then interviewed his rival from his podium.)

Will the How I Met Your Mother star’s micromanaging help him strike hosting gold again? We won’t know until 65th Emmy Awards air on CBS Sept. 22 — though Harris did give a few more hints about we can expect at this year’s show. Think less Miley, more magic.

Neil Patrick Harris to host Tony Awards for fourth time

It’s sure to be legen — wait for it — dary.

Emmy-winner Neil Patrick Harris is returning to host the Tony Awards for a fourth time, the show announced today. “I’m very excited to be back hosting the Tony Awards at the legendary Radio City Music Hall. It’ll be more impressive than ever — if my math is correct, it will be 267 times bigger than last year,” said Harris in a press release. “Oh, wait.  No, that can’t… hold on… carry the one… I’m awful at math. But rest assured, the show will rock!” READ FULL STORY
