Exclusive: 'Ugly Betty' hits the beach!

ugly-betty-makeover_l1Betty Suarez is boldly going where she has never gone before: inside a one-piece.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Ugly Betty is heading to the Bahamas next month to shoot an episode on location at the Atlantis Resort and Casino.

I’m told most of the cast will be making the trek for the special episode, which will air in November and revolve around a big Mode photo shoot. READ FULL STORY

'Ugly Betty' video: Prepare to laugh HARD

Looking for an Ugly Betty fix while you wait for the show’s Oct. 9 return? Look no further than Michael Urie and Becki Newton’s hilarious web series Mode After Hours, which returns with new episodes this week. To get you in the mood, here’s an exclusive first look at a piddle-worthy scene from the second episode (scheduled to go live on Sept. 25).

'Ugly Betty' scoop: Kristen Johnston in, Paula Abdul out!

Kristen-Johnston_lTake note, American Idol: This is how you replace Paula Abdul.

Ugly Betty has tapped 3rd Rock Emmy winner Kristen Johnston to replace Abdul in the now-recurring role of Helen, Mode’s newest office temp and Amanda’s elder doppelganger. Abdul had been in negotiations to play the part, but last week the deal came undone — in part, I hear, due to the ex-Idol judge’s insane list of demands. (Two words: Private. Jet.)

“I’ve always considered myself a poor man’s Paula Abdul,” Johnston says with a laugh. READ FULL STORY

Armchair Casting Director: 'Ugly Betty'

Remember me hinting back in July about a possible mob subplot on this season’s Ugly Betty involving Hilda? Well, based on the following casting intel, it looks like producers are moving full-steam ahead with the story, which would find Ana Ortiz’s lovelorn single mom falling for a poor man’s Christopher Moltisanti! The deets… READ FULL STORY

Exclusive: 'Ugly Betty' snags Paula Abdul

paula-abdul-news_lAt long last, someone to tell Betty she’s beautiful!

'Ugly Betty' recast: 'Top Model' alum is Willie's daughter!

ugly-betty_lSomewhere Tyra Banks is smiling.

Polarizing America’s Next Top Model alum Yaya Dacosta—she was cycle 3’s runner-up—has been tapped to take over the recurring role of Wilhelmina’s defiant daughter Nico on Ugly Betty, sources confirm to me exclusively.

The character—originated by Jowharah Jones—resurfaces in the Oct. 9 season premiere and promptly gets caught up in one of the show’s new mysteries. READ FULL STORY

'Ugly Betty' exclusive: Look who's returning!

ugly_betty_lI didn’t think he’d stay away for long, and goshdarnit, I was right: Grant Bowler has inked a deal with Ugly Betty to reprise his role as Wilhelmina’s crooked ex, Connor, for multiple episodes, sources confirm to me exclusively.

Last seen at the end of season 3, Connor fled town after Betty discovered that he had embezzled millions from Meade Publications. Willie spent the rest of the season mending her broken heart — a process I’m guessing will spill over into the fall.

Happy the little thief is back? Sound off below!

'Ugly Betty' exclusive: Betty's glam new look under review at ABC

Ugly-betty-makeover_lABC is pretty serious about the extreme makeover it’s giving Ugly Betty. According to my sources, the network is going so far as to conduct a round of focus groups this week to get feedback on the heroine’s season 4 metamorphosis.

In particular, execs are showing test audiences two scenes from early in the season, both featuring a newly glamorized Betty working at her new job as Mode‘s associate features editor. In one, she’s rocking a Chanel-esque pastel pink suit; in the other, she’s sporting a short-sleeved black dress with a ruffled V-neck. “She looks a lot classier,” says one guinea pig, “but she’s still far from perfect.”

'Ugly Betty' exclusive: Jamie-Lynn Sigler replaces Betty!

Jaime-Lynn-Sigler_l Yes, the headline’s misleading — but only slightly!

Sopranos vet Jamie-Lynn Sigler is joining the cast of Ugly Betty in the recurring role of Natalie, Daniel’s sexy, spiritual, funny new assistant, sources confirm to me exclusively.

Natalie replaces Betty, who was promoted to features editor in last May’s season finale.

See? Only slightly misleading.

Sigler will debut in Betty‘s second episode (the first after the two-hour premiere on Oct. 9).

Ask Ausiello: Spoilers on 'Lost,' 'House,' 'Smallville,' 'Heroes,' and more!

Ask-Ausiello_l Question: Your lack of reporting on the Veronica Mars movie has me feeling like it’s DOA. Any news on it? — Andrew
Ausiello:
Yep, but it ain’t good. At last weekend’s Saturn Awards, Kristen Bell told us, “I don’t think it will ever happen, and here’s why: [Series creator] Rob Thomas and I had a powwow, and we were both 100 percent on board. We took our proposal to Warner Bros. and Joel Silver told us that there is no enthusiasm [there] to make a Veronica Mars movie, and that is unfortunately a roadblock we cannot compete with.” But — like the rest of us, I suspect — she isn’t giving up hope. “Maybe if we bombard them with letters?” she suggests. “Maybe [then] they will change their tune.” What are you waiting for, a written invitation from Veronica Mars herself? Start bombarding Warner Bros. with letters!

Question: Do you have any Big Bang Theory scoopage? –Sara
Ausiello:
Do locusts have leg muscles that are, like, a bazillion times stronger than an equal weight of human muscle? (Yes, I broke a sweat on that one. Thanks, this site.) Although Simon “Wolowitz” Helberg says, “We are still on summer vacation — we go back August 5 — and I have not seen the first script,” he admits, “I just saw Jim ["Sheldon" Parsons], and he certainly did let on that he knew something. I just assume they will pick up right where we left off in terms of the North Pole… Maybe we needed to eat Sheldon to survive.” All kidding aside, what would the actor like to see happen this season? “It’d be interesting to see [Wolowitz] try to move out [of his mother's basement]. I would also like him to meet his father, and I would like his father to be Ringo Starr. How cool would it be if Wolowitz is the son of a Beatle? [Besides] I would actually like pants I can breathe in and an operational fly so I don’t have to pull down my pants to my ankles every time I need to pee.”

Question: Any update on Lauren Graham joining the cast of Scrubs? –Jenny
Ausiello:
As I suspected, it’s not happening. I don’t even think it got past the wish list stage.

Question: Like most Friday Night Lights fans, I was devastated to read in last week’s AA that Zach Gilford will not return as a series regular next season. Do you know how long he will return for? –Amanda
Ausiello:
It’s looking like five episodes, maybe more. And I’m a little bummed myself.

Question: Will House recover from whatever it is that landed him in the psycho ward? –Catherine
Ausiello:
You mean will he stop being crazy? “No,” says Robert Sean Leonard. “It would be like Quincy suddenly getting nice and loving examining dead bodies. There are certain things that are just givens about the show, and one is the general makeup of House’s attitude and personality. He may stop hallucinating but he’d never stop being sarcastic.” Adds series creator David Shore: “It depends on how we define better. That is the question. How sick is he? Does House want to get better? Can he get better? And how much better? And how much will the team be told and how will the dynamic shift with House away? Those are the questions we are going to deal with in the first bunch of episodes, and perhaps even the whole season to a certain extent.”

Question: Is it true that Gregory Itzin will be back on 24 next season? –Arleen
Ausiello:
That’s false.

Question: Is it true that Claire on Heroes is going to have a romantic relationship with Rachel Melvin’s new character, Annie? –Elizabeth
Ausiello:
That’s true. Kind of. I’m not sure about a full-blown relationship, but I can confirm that the college roomies will engage in a little sapphic experimentation. At least that’s the plan. Meanwhile, Hayden P. insists rumors that she tried to wiggle out of her Heroes contract at the end of the last season have been greatly exaggerated (i.e., all lies!). “I love my job and I love where I am,” she maintains. “Heroes has been such a massive part of my life. I’ve been doing it for four years, and at times you get restless; I think anyone would in any job. But I love what I do. I love my job. I love my cast members. They’re all my family. I don’t pay attention to rumors like that. That’s why they’re called rumors. ‘Cause they’re rumors.” Thanks for clearing that up!

Question: Jennifer Jason Leigh was hilarious as Nancy’s sister on Weeds. Will we see her again? –Paul
Ausiello:
If Weeds creator Jenji Kohan has anything to say about it, we will. “We loved having Jennifer on the show and were dazzled by her performance and her chemistry with our cast,” she raves. “We have no idea when she’ll be back, but we’d love to have her return if our story and her schedule align. Fingers crossed.”

Question: Is the Comic-Con meet-and-greet happening or not? My calendar is filling up! –Kevin
Ausiello:
Keep open Thursday, July 23, at 8 p.m., because that’s when I’ll be getting plastered with a bunch of Ausholes at an undisclosed San Diego-area location. Well, undisclosed to all but the first 75 of you who RSVP via ausholesunite@ew.com. Did I mention the open bar? Hurry!

Question: Any hints about who or what Annie hit at the end of 90210? –Craig
Ausiello:
It’s a person.

Question: Will we see Mekhi Phifer and/or Jennifer Beals back on Lie to Me next season? Any other new faces coming on board?–Bernd
Ausiello:
Mekhi has been promoted to a series regular, while Jennifer will continue to recur as Lightman’s ex. As far as new blood goes, we’ll meet Lightman’s longtime rival, an on-camera expert in the same field.

Question: With regard to your 24 asterisk quiz in last week’s Ask Ausiello, is it safe to say that Ethan will be promoted to Commander-in-Chief next season? –Neely
Ausiello:
You’d be safer going with Secretary of State.

Question: Now that Drea de Matteo is on Desperate Housewives, what does that mean for her character on Sons of Anarchy? –Brandon
Ausiello:
It means “she is not currently scheduled to appear in season 2,” per an FX spokesperson. Speaking of season 2, it debuts Sept. 8.

Question: Is Kyle MacLachlan seriously leaving Desperate Housewives? –Elina
Ausiello:
Nope, he’s returning. And he’ll remain a series regular.

Question: Wentworth Miller has had a few months off now. It’s time for him to get back to work. Any word on his next TV gig? –Deirdre
Ausiello:
As first scooped by TV Guide mag, he’s guest-starring in the season premiere of Law & Order: SVU as a cop who comes to the aid of a rape victim.

Question: Heroes scoop, please? –Justin
Ausiello:
Remember me telling you that producers were casting an 11-year-old version of Nathan? Well, thanks to Adrian Pasdar, now we know why! “I absorb a memory from an article of clothing that sends me back in time to when I was 11,” he explains. “Something happened to young Nathan but old Nathan doesn’t remember it. How can that be? It has to do with a character we have met before.”

Question: Regarding Ugly Betty, got any spoilers that don’t involve Matt and Betty? –Kelcy
Ausiello:
Mode’s getting a new editor! Her name’s Amber, she’s in her 20s, she’s Asian, and is a master at the backhanded compliment. Casting is under way. Also, I’m hearing (and already laughing) about a possible Mob subplot involving Hilda. BTW, congrats to Ana Ortiz on the birth of her daughter!

Question: I’m having Glee withdrawals! News, please? –James
Ausiello:
I don’t want to blow my whole Glee wad before the show even returns! Oh, who am I kidding, yes I do. MADtv‘s Michael Hitchcock — yet another Christopher Guest alum — will be appearing alongside Eve as the director of a rival choir.

Question: Ever since the news of Callum Blue being cast as Zod on Smallville was reported, there is one question we are all dying to know: Was the “Mason” role, in fact, Zod? –C.B.
Ausiello:
Yep, it sure was. Speaking of which, Justin Hartley doesn’t think a Green Arrow-Zod face-off is in the cards next season. “I have the good sense in my head to let Clark deal with [him],” he says with a laugh. “I’ll stick to dealing with the ladies. Why would I start something with that guy? That guy looks tall in photos. I don’t need a piece of that guy.”

Question: Could you kindly tell us Smallville fans what Season 9 will be
about? –Colin
Ausiello:
According to Justin Hartley, a portion of it will be about Oliver confronting his demons. “I think he is going to struggle with the things he has been afforded [as a result of] his powers,” he says. “He has sacrificed things and done things that haunt him… It’s bad stuff. We need to get to the bottom of it.”

Question: Got Greek scoop? –Karen
Ausiello:
G4 hostess Olivia Munn (Attack of the Show!) is joining the cast in the recurring role of Lana, a beautiful yet guarded waitress who doesn’t realize how drop-dead gorgeous she is.

Question: Hey, did you hear the new Smurfs movie will be in 3-D?! Anyway, do you have any more Lost scoop? –Erick
Ausiello:
May’s series finale is going to be a real downer, predicts Michael Emerson. “I don’t think Lost will have a happy ending,” he confessed to us at the Saturn Awards. “It’s the end and I think we are going to start seeing more casualties. I would put money on major characters being killed. I believe it will be a sad ending to the show — or at least bittersweet. I think it will definitely be a series finale for grown-ups.” Emerson, meanwhile, is still trying to make sense of the season 5 finale. (Join the club!) “I killed Jacob… maybe…probably,” he hedged. “It isn’t like we haven’t seen plenty of other people be killed and somehow come back. And what does it mean if I did kill him? Who the hell was he anyway? Obviously, Ben wanted a father. So much of our show is about bad fathers. It is one of our biggest themes. And Jacob disappointed in those final moments. And maybe Jacob made it easy for him. Maybe that was all meant to happen. Is it all ordained? Maybe. And for that matter, can Jacob even be killed? Stay tuned is my response.” Click here is mine.

Ask Ausiello: Spoilers on 'Ugly Betty,' 'House,' 'Scrubs,' 'CSI: Miami,' '24,' and more!

House-Ugly-Betty-Ausiello_l Question: Will Daniel Eric Gold, who plays Betty ex-BF/boss Matt, be returning to Ugly Betty next season? –Janeen
Ausiello:
Not only is he returning, but sources confirm to me
exclusively that he’s been promoted to a full-fledged series regular! But don’t take that to mean Matt and Betty will reunite and live happily ever after. In fact, I hear Betty producers are already cooking up a fresh obstacle for the pair, and rumor has it they want him to be lovable and blue collarish. (Think Seth Rogen, only much cheaper.)

Question: Doesn’t Scrubs‘ surprise renewal present a challenge for producers? I mean, last month’s finale already showed us what happens to J.D., Elliott, and Co. in the future! –Sydney
Ausiello:
I posed that exact question to Bill Lawrence last week. Here’s what he said: “[The flash-forward epilogue] just showed J.D. and Elliott together, and I’ll stay true to that. Those two will still be together. But [next season] won’t be about tracing that relationship… There’s no possible way the show will succeed if it’s just more trials and tribulations of J.D. Zach is basically doing [an arc] to help us transition to a new show. It’s like if Hawkeye had done AfterMASH.” (Click here to see what Scrubs will be about next season.)

Question: Thoughts on Lauren Graham possibly joining Scrubs? –Shelly
Ausiello:
Shhhh…you’re gonna jinx it!

Question: Any House scoop, other than the prolongation of Huddy after House leaves the loony bin? Translation: Why should non-Huddy fans tune in to House next season? –Luke
Ausiello:
Because the Princeton Plainsboro that House left in the season finale will not be the same one he returns to next fall. And admit it, you’re dying to know how it’ll be different. “How [the hospital] works when he comes back will be different,” teases exec producer Katie Jacobs. “A doctor can’t check into a mental institution and just walk back into his job like nothing happened. We will not start forsaking reality. This [story] will have consequences.”

Question: How much of Cameron and Chase’s home life will we see next season on House? –Diane
Ausiello:
Not much, according to Katie Jacobs. “I don’t know that we will show any more of their private lives than we have anyone else’s. The hospital stuff is first and foremost for us and everything we show furthers those story lines. I don’t think lovey-dovey, at-home relations is what people watch our show for.”

Question: As a huge Friday Night Lights fan, I absolutely loved your interview with Connie Britton. Is there any more news on who will be coming back next season? I live in Austin, and need to know who to be looking out for around town come September. –Amanda
Ausiello:
In addition to Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton, full-time returnees include Jesse Plemons, Taylor Kitsch, Aimee Teegarden, and Jeremy Sumpter. Adrianne Palicki, Minka Kelly, and Zach Gilford will likely be back for short-term farewell arcs.

Question: You don’t talk much about Raising the Bar. –Ben
Ausiello:
I was waiting for someone to finally ask me about it! Producers are adding a young, idealistic female lawyer to the cast in a recurring capacity.

Question: Any idea who The Tudors will cast to play Henry’s final wife, Catherine Parr? –Chris
Ausiello:
I only know who was at the top of their wish list: Gillian freakin’ Anderson! Sadly, I don’t think it’s going to happen.

Question: CSI: Miami scoop? Please tell me Delko survives. –Jennifer
Ausiello:
Sources confirm that Adam Rodriguez will be back next season, so, yeah, I think it’s safe to say Delko survives. Meanwhile, we caught up with Rodriguez’s former costar, Rory Cochrane, at the premiere of his new film, Public Enemies, and asked him whether another Speedle cameo was in his future. His answer was, um, interesting. “I can’t really talk about it,” he said. “They talked to me about something that I cannot get into details about… I did come back once as a figment of Delko’s imagination, but I am pretty sure that is it for me on that show. I told them not to kill me but they didn’t take my advice.”

Question: I’m not happy that Bryan Fuller has left Heroes again. Remind me again why I should even bother watching next season? –Tricia
Ausiello:
Because my good pal Greg Grunberg wouldn’t lie to you. Shortly after news of Fuller’s exit broke, Grunberg reassured fans via Twitter that the scribe is “leaving [Heroes] in great hands… the scripts for season 4 and the stories we’re about to tell will ROCK YOUR WORLD. BEST. SEASON. EVER.” Plus, if you quit watching now you won’t get to see a miniature version of Adrian Pasdar! My Heroes mole reports that the show is looking for a young actor to play an 11-year-old Nathan.

Question: Any goodies on the new season of Leverage for Parker and Eliot fans? –Kelly
Ausiello:
If by “goodies” you mean “romance,” the answer is no — at least not in the season 2 opener. That’s not to say the July 15 premiere is devoid of action, though. The hour includes a car explosion, multiple gunshots, and a bone-crushing fight scene. And it definitely ends with a bang, er, three. Expect one character to get shot with not one or two, but three, bullets lodged in their chest.

Question: Is Jennie Garth going to appear in any episodes of 90210 next season? –Emil
Ausiello:
There’s nothing on the books yet, but a rep for the show says “the intention is to have Jennie back next season.” In other 90210 news, former Law & Order ADA Elisabeth Rohm will guest-star as a robot bitchy socialite who locks horns with Naomi in at least one episode.

Question: I just read that Nip/Tuck wrapped production on its series finale on June 12. Got any spoilers on how it’ll end? –Bernd
Ausiello:
I’m hearing that someone will get left at the altar.

Question: Can we get an update on Noah Wyle’s negotiations to star in Steven Spielberg’s new alien invasion pilot for TNT? –Kelly
Ausiello:
Sure can: He’s definitely doing it!

Question: There’s a new season of Entourage right around the corner. Have you seen any of the new episodes? –Jonathan
Ausiello:
Just screened the July 12 season premiere last night and I’m pleased to report that it focuses almost entirely on my favorite couple: Ari and Lloyd. Basically, Lloyd wants a promotion and Ari is having none of it

Question: So does Ethan become the Vice President of 24 next season? Or maybe the new First Gentleman? –Chris
Ausiello:
You’re wrong on both counts. According to an aide close to President Taylor, who asked not to be identified because he/she could get fired for talking to me, Ethan will be appointed the new ********* ** *****.

Question: Here’s a question: What the heck has the awesome Melinda Clarke been up to? –Tammy
Ausiello:
Big scoop: She’s starring in a new TV series as a housewife by day and a spy by night. Unfortunately, the show isn’t real; it’s part of an upcoming Entourage subplot.

Ask Ausiello: Spoilers on 'House,' 'Gossip Girl,' '24,' 'Chuck,' and more!

Ask-ausiello-gossip-girl_l Question: Obviously the main focus of the House premiere will be House in the “loony bin.” But what will the rest of the cast be up to? –Rachel
Ausiello:
Enjoying the rest of their vacation. No joke. I’m told the two-hour One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest-inspired season premiere will feature only two of the show’s main players: House and Wilson. Everyone else will show up the following week. “It is a bold move,” Hugh Laurie acknowledged to EW at last night’s Paley Center for Media event, Creating Great Characters. “We are moving into our sixth year and I suppose the writers felt that we couldn’t just reprise the same stories, the same sets, the same look, the same problems. We needed to go on an adventure, and this is it.” Speaking of House, click here to find out why series creator David Shore is (sort of) apologizing to Huddy fans.

Question: There’s a spoiler floating around that says Chuck is going to bring home a girl in the Gossip Girl season premiere. Does this mean that he cheats on Blair? Or, even worse, that they broke up over the summer? –Fernanda
Ausiello:
While it’s true that Blair catches Chuck, ahem, connecting with a model in the Sept. 14 opener, all is not as it appears.

Question: Any news on Gossip Girl? What’s in store for Serena? –Sara
Ausiello:
She’ll be motherless for the first batch of episodes due to Kelly Rutherford’s maternity leave.

Question: 90210 scoop, please? –Darren
Ausiello:
As you may have heard through the ‘vine, the teens at West Beverly High will be given a hot summer hangout with the C-dub bringing back the Beverly Hills Beach Club. Much like the original — which was a favorite hangout of Kelly, Brenda and Co.  — the new beach-side club will feature a bevy of hot new characters. I mean, it’s not really a beach unless there’s some skin to burn, right?

Question: Is Dustin Milligan not returning to 90210 at all next season? –Becky
Ausiello:
Nope. We’ll learn in the Sept. 8 season premiere (via gratuitous exposition) that Ethan decided to stay in Montana with his pa.

Question: Please tell me you have some Smallville scoop! I am spoiler-dry and need some fixins’ on season 9. –Joel
Ausiello:
The “s” word is being thrown around again. No, not Superman — I’m talking about spin-off. With next season likely the show’s last, rumor has it there’s chatter around Smallville about ways to extend the franchise. Meanwhile, my buddy Mitovich over at TV Guide is reporting that Brian Austin Green traded in that series regular gig on One Tree Hill for a two-episode arc on Smallville as DC Comics baddie Metallo.

Question: That Dominic Monaghan promo decoy thing really disappointed me. Is there any chance Charlie might be coming back to Lost as well, even for a couple of episodes? –Elle
Ausiello:
I can confirm what my Frenemy reported on Monday: There is interest on both sides.

Question: Do you have anything on ABC’s V reboot? –Danny
Ausiello:
Someone who we were led to believe was a series regular on the show is actually just a guest star in the premiere. At least that’s the impression I was left with after watching the pilot.

Question: Got any scoop for us fangbangers about True Blood? BTW, love that Lafayette is still alive… so far. –Rebecca
Ausiello:
HBO just released the official titles and loglines for TB‘s July episodes and they contain some bloody good spoilers…

July 12: “Shake and Fingerpop”
With Jessica in tow, Bill and Sookie head to Dallas to carry out Eric’s vampire-reconnaissance mission — but a surprise awaits them at the airport. At the Light of Day Institute, Jason falls victim to a practical joke, but has the last laugh when the Newlins anoint him for a higher calling.  Maryann throws Tara a birthday party at Sookie’s, attracting much of Bon Temps to its Bacchanalian revelry. Sam postpones his departure from town to attend the bash, connecting with Daphne in the process. Having barely escaped Fangtasia, Lafayette (finds himself reluctantly pulled back into Eric’s orbit.

July 19: “Never Let Me Go”
In Dallas, Sookie connects with one of her own, then joins Bill and Eric for a strategic summit at the lair of the missing vampire, Godric, attended by his lieutenants, Stan and Isabel. Meanwhile, Jason shows his mettle at a Light of Day boot camp, and is rewarded for his hard work with a gift from Sarah. Rebuffed by Tara in her relocation efforts, Maryann decides to cast her spell on the staff of Merlotte’s, softening Tara up towards her new “family.” Eric shares a little-known secret about his past with Bill, and Sookie makes a decision that might solve the Godric mystery — or get her killed.

July 26: “Hard-Hearted Hannah”
Accompanied by Isabel’s human boyfriend Hugo, Sookie embarks on a dangerous mission to locate Godric. Meanwhile, Bill is shocked when a vampire from his distant, more violent past resurfaces in Dallas. In Bon Temps, Daphne presses Sam to get comfortable in his own skin(s); Hoyt continues his unlikely courtship of Jessica; Andy interrogates Lafayette about his disappearance; and Tara and Eggs take a detour while on a road trip. At the Light of Day camp, Jason faces difficult emotional and physical choices.

Question: If Chris Diamantopoulos is playing Pres. Taylor’s new Chief of Staff on 24 next season, then where does that leave Bob Gunton (a.k.a. Ethan Kanin)? –Betty
Ausiello:
Don’t worry about Ethan. He fares very well in the transition.

Question: As the fall schedules are being announced, would it be possible for you to make a matrix of the shows and when they are on each night? –Danielle
Ausiello:
Little busy right now with Ask Ausiello, if you hadn’t noticed.

Question: I read that they are casting for a new female CSI on CSI NY. Any info on if this is a replacement or an addition? In other words, is someone not returning in September? –Kate
Ausiello:
I can tell you that it’s not a replacement for either Anna Belknap or Melina Kanakaredes. Both are officially returning next season. Not sure about the rest of the cast.

Question: Can you give us any info on whether Jane Lynch will return to Party Down for the second season? Or will she be too busy with Glee? –Veronika
Ausiello:
Let’s ask Party boy Rob Thomas: “It looks unlikely that we’ll be able to use Jane as a series regular next year,” he tells me. “We are hopeful that she can guest star for us at least once, but we’re not even able to lock that down at this point.”

Question: You interviewed Zach Levi! Spill the details, buddy! What can we expect from season 3 of Chuck? –Mena
Ausiello:
Our little Ausiello TV sit-down is coming to an embedded video player near you very soon. Here’s another scoop to tide you over: Based on our convo, I am 99 percent certain The Orange Orange will morph into a Subway next season.

Question: What’s up with Ugly Betty next season? Maybe you can get some scoop from Becki Newton when you hang with her at Michael Urie’s play. –Kelcy
Ausiello:
Unfortunately, Becki didn’t put out. [Beat] Any scoop. [Hold for laughs] Actually, that’s not true: She confirmed that both she and Michael have received their formal pickup letters from ABC, which means Amanda and Marc will be back next season. Oh, and here’s something else: You’ll never guess who was sitting next to us at the theater — Ed Norton! At least we thought it was Ed Norton. Turns out it was just some dude who looked like Ed Norton. Bottom line: Go see The Temperamentals — you never know what celeb look-alike you’ll see in the audience! (It’s also a really good play!)

Question: Got anything on the upcoming season of Ugly Betty? –Mei
Ausiello:
This just in: Producers are adding a twentysomething African-American actress in a major recurring role, which makes me to wonder if Wilhelmina’s daughter is about to get an extreme makeover.

Question: There have been rumors that Danneel Harris is returning as Rachel on One Tree Hill in the season 7. Is this true? –Cameron
Ausiello:
The rumors are true. Rachel will be back next season for an arc.

Question: Any idea what actress is slated to play the role of Haley’s sister Quinn on One Tree Hill? –Lila
Ausiello: According to this highly reputable journalist, relative newcomer Shantel VanSanten has landed the role.
