Hey, that's my show! Ben Stiller bringing 'Reality Bites' to NBC

It looks like a new generation may get to experience the highs and lows of Lelaina Pierce, Troy Dyer, and the rest of the gang as a comedy series based on the seminal 1994 flick Reality Bites has gotten a script order at NBC.

EW has confirmed a Deadline report that Ben Stiller (who directed the original film and played straitlaced TV exec Michael Grates) is revisiting the film as a show and is attached to executive produce; original screenwriter Helen Childress will pen the script.

Much like the original, the series will reportedly take place in the early ’90s and center on novice filmmaker Pierce and her slacker friends in Houston after their college graduation. While no casting was announced, it’s safe to say Winona Ryder, Ethan Hawke, Ben Stiller, and the rest of the original cast, which also included Janeane Garofalo and Steve Zahn, will probably not be reprising their roles. (Although it would be great to see Garofalo’s Vickie working at Gap’s corporate office two decades after she mastered the art of folding.)

Bravo set to adapt 'Heathers' as a scripted series

Veronica Sawyer is coming to Bravo!

No, she’s not a Real Housewife just yet, but Bravo has announced that they want you to watch what happens as they delve into scripted television with a series based on the 1988 teen classic, Heathers. The show will take place in the present day, and will have Veronica (the Winona Ryder character from the film) move back to Sherwood with her teenage daughter. The daughter must deal with a new generation of high school drama in the form of the Plastics “Ashleys,” the daughters of the surviving Heathers.

The show is being executive produced by Mark Rizzo (The Man Date, Zip) and Jenny Bicks (The Big C, Men In Trees).

But that’s not all of Bravo’s scripted series news: The network is also development The Apartment, a drama about two siblings who “rent out [their late mother’s] beautiful Upper West Side apartment to people who want a private space to have their own extra-marital affairs,” according to a press release.
